Fiery Motorcycle Crash on Los Angeles Freeway

10.05.2020 | 1:27 AM | SOUTH PARK – A motorcycle rider was seriously injured when he lost control of his bike and crashed on the freeway, causing the bike to catch fire Monday morning.

CHP Officers along with LAFD Firefighters responded to the NB I-110 Freeway at Vernon Avenue just before 1:30 AM.

Upon arrival, they discovered a motorcycle in lanes well involved in flames with the rider down nearby.

Good Samaritans stopped to assist the rider in getting him away from the fiery motorcycle.

Firefighters were able to quickly extinguish the blaze and transport the rider to a local hospital.

No other injuries were reported.

  7. Sept 16,2020 San Pedro…I was cut off and the driver fled. I was left in the intersection, bleeding and had my helmet on, my leather jacket. wasn't so lucky. A man stopped by to quickly hand me his yellow safety vest. He saved my life because not 2 minutes later ,a car came right at me and she said she only seen the vest. The lady was my wife .I remember calling my young son ,who told his mom. I still have broken bones in a sling. I miss working and making a paycheck. I sincerely wish people wouldn't be so god dam rude on the road. They say the same thing all the time. "I didn't see you"

  10. I rode for decades. I have driven cross country, done the mountains, rode in snow storms and could always spot the crazy drivers before they moved in on me. Met some great people and have many stories to tell. Finally gave it up. Never know when it is going to be your turn. Figured after all the miles, time to relax.

  15. This is why you wear gear when on two wheels. You mitigate most of those surface wounds. A set of gauntlet gloves would have his hands well protected. I didn't notice a helmet anywhere, hopefully he was wearing one at least.
